Setting Up Your Organization

When you log in for the first time, CrafterBy prompts you to create an organization. This article explains what that means and how to complete the setup.

What an organization is

An organization is a workspace for one business. Everything in CrafterBy -- your materials, products, machines, contacts, orders, and cost settings -- belongs to an organization. If you run one business, you will have one organization. If you run two separate businesses, you create two organizations and switch between them.

Organizations are isolated from each other. Materials and products in one organization are not visible in another.

Setting up your organization

1. Enter a name for your organization. Use your business name or a clear label, for example "Lumena Candles" or "Oak and Hide Leatherworks".
2. Set your currency. Choose the currency you use for purchases and sales. This affects how costs and prices are displayed throughout the app. You can change it later in Settings, but doing so does not convert existing values.
3. Set your default language. CrafterBy supports English and Brazilian Portuguese. This sets the language for the interface. Individual team members can change their own language preference in their profile.
4. Save to create the organization. You will be taken to your dashboard.

What you can change later

All three settings -- name, currency, and language -- can be updated at any time under Settings > Organization. Changing the currency does not recalculate historical data; it only changes the symbol displayed going forward.
