Low Stock Alerts
A low-stock alert is triggered when a material's current stock falls below its configured minimum stock level. Alerts help you reorder before you run out rather than discovering the shortage mid-production.
When an alert is triggered
CrafterBy checks stock levels after every stock movement. If the resulting quantity is at or below the Minimum Stock Level set on the material, an alert is generated.
Alerts are not generated for materials that do not have stock tracking enabled, or for materials where no minimum stock level has been set.
Where alerts appear
- Dashboard — the main dashboard shows a summary count of active low-stock alerts. Click the alert to see the list.
- Materials list — materials with active alerts are visually flagged (typically with a warning indicator). You can filter the list to show only low-stock materials.
- Material detail page — the current stock level is shown with a warning indicator when below the minimum.
Acting on an alert
When you see a low-stock alert, your options are:
- Reorder: Place an order with your supplier. Once the delivery arrives, record a Purchase Received stock movement. When the quantity goes back above the minimum, the alert is automatically resolved.
- Adjust the minimum stock level: If the alert is triggering prematurely because your minimum was set too high for your actual usage pattern, edit the material and lower the minimum.
- Dismiss: If you are aware of the low stock and do not need a reminder, you can manually dismiss the alert. A dismissed alert will reappear if the stock drops further.
Alerts do not block production
Low-stock alerts are informational. CrafterBy does not prevent you from creating products or recording production runs when a material is low or out of stock. The alert is a prompt to reorder, not a hard stop. If a material reaches zero stock, the alert escalates visually, but operation continues.
