Team Roles and Permissions

CrafterBy has three roles for organization members: Owner, Admin, and Member. Assigning the right role ensures people have access to what they need without being able to change things they should not.

Role comparison

Owner

• Full access to all features and data in the organization.
• Can manage billing and change the subscription plan.
• Can delete the organization.
• Can invite members and assign any role, including Owner.
• Can change any member's role.

The person who creates an organization is automatically an Owner. There can be multiple Owners.

Admin

• Full access to all features: materials, products, machines, contacts, orders, reports, settings.
• Can invite new members and assign Member or Admin roles.
• Can remove members (but not Owners).
• Cannot access billing or change the subscription plan.
• Cannot delete the organization.
• Cannot change an Owner's role.

Use the Admin role for a business partner or a trusted assistant who needs to manage all aspects of the workspace except financial control.

Member

• Can view all materials, products, machines, contacts, orders, and reports.
• Can create and edit materials, products, contacts, and orders.
• Cannot change Settings (cost settings, overhead, categories, stock locations).
• Cannot invite or remove team members.
• Cannot access billing.

Use the Member role for employees or collaborators who need to work with the catalogue and orders but should not change the configuration.

Changing a member's role

1. Go to Settings > Team.
2. Find the person in the member list.
3. Click the role label next to their name to open the role selector.
4. Choose the new role.
5. Confirm the change.

The change takes effect immediately. The member does not need to log out and back in.

Removing a member

To remove someone from the organization, click the menu icon next to their name in Settings > Team and select Remove from organization. This immediately revokes their access. Their CrafterBy account is not deleted -- only their membership in your organization is removed.
